Communications Concepts produces TV coverage of FUTURES TOUR season opener
Mar 18, 2004.

It was the 400th tournament for The FUTURES Golf Tour as the season opened at the Cleveland Heights Golf Club and CCI was there covering the action. The script couldn't have been written better in Hollywood. The final round on Sunday of the $65,000 Lakeland FUTURES Golf Classic featured competitive drama, an international cast of players and a setting in Central Florida with a backdrop of golf-loving Canadians visiting for the winter. By day's end, the main character was a Canadian, Kim Adams of Tide Head, New Brunswick, who won the event by four shots.

Communications Concepts' multi-camera coverage started four days earlier with set-up of the camera towers and rollout of miles of cable to ready the course prior to the event's first round. At the same time, CCI provided single-camera coverage of the early rounds, the Pro-Am, the Junior Golf Clinic, the Meet the Pros Party and the Long Drive Competition. Late afternoon in Saturday's second round, CCI Mobile Unit #4 arrived at the course in Polk County to complete cabling and begin testing all cable runs. Final set up and technical adjustments began at sunrise Sunday morning to make sure all was ready to capture the tournament's final round. By late morning, CCI was ready as the leaders came through. With ten cameras, several equipped with 55X lens; six videotape machines, and a crew of 25 technicians the final round was recorded live to tape. Well-known TV commentator Sid Champagne hosted the TV event with former LPGA Tour winner Tracy Kerdyk providing color commentary and current FUTURES tour player Amy Langhals serving as on-course analyst. The two-hour broadcast will be seen on the Sunshine Network.

"We are excited about CCI's production of our season-opening tournament for the Sunshine Network and we eagerly await the telecast, which will show viewers throughout the region how dynamic and entertaining today's FUTURES Golf Tour has become," said FUTURES Tour President and Chief Executive Officer, Zayra F. Calderon.
