Communications Concepts Inc. Wins Three Gold ADDY™ Awards, Takes Home Best of Electronic, and Best of Show

Feb 24, 2007. Communications Concepts, Inc. (CCI) won three Gold ADDY™ Awards from the Space Coast Chapter of the Advertising Federation (SCAF). CCI also took home top honors, including Best of Electronics, and the top honor, Best of Show.

CCI won a Gold ADDY™ Award for the following categories, pieces, and clients: Audio/Visual Sales Presentation for Change the World for International Launch Services (ILS); Elements of Advertising, Special Effects or Animation for SeaAway Animation for SeaAway; and Television, Cinema Advertising for A Theater Near You for Premier Theaters - Oaks 10. The SeaAway Animation won the overall award for "Best of Electronic," and A Theater Near You won "Best of Show," the evening's most coveted and prestigious award, besting excellent quality competition from the print, electronic, and broadcast media throughout the county.

According to CCI General Manager and Senior Producer Jim Lewis, "We're extremely honored, and our clients are going to be very excited. It's a great feeling to have your work recognized by your peers, and it's equally rewarding to tell your clients that the work we produced for them not only accomplished its intended purpose, but also that its been acknowledged for excellence by experts."

A Theater Near You, a 90 second piece highlighting theater etiquette, presents a darkly comic look at theaters of the not-to-distant future and the freedoms the fictitious movie-goers will have to sacrifice if they do not adhere to the rules. Shot in HD at 720p at 24 frames per second to give it a film look and shot on location at Port Canaveral, CCI employed a doorway dolly shot, and mounted the camera on a jib to add some movement. In post at CCI's new facility, CCI HD Orlando, CCI washed out the color to give it a cold, austere look and mixed the final audio version in Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

The SeaAway Animation was created for Titusville-based SeaAway, a port security company. The animation is a sales promotion tool for an extensive "prior to port" security system known as the Sea Sentinel System™, which allows for the detection of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive devices on shipping containers before the hazardous materials can reach port.

For Change the World, CCI purchased the music and video from the popular rock band, P.O.D, and then cut and rearranged the video and added new footage to produce an entirely new piece that demonstrates how ILS is the first link in a communications chain that connects people all over the world in harmony. The piece originally aired at Satellite 2006, or Sat06, the largest satellite conference in the world. The edgy video garnered an outpour of attention for ILS, added a much needed spark to the conference, and helped validate for ILS the image of a progressive high-tech company with an eye on the bigger picture.

The ADDY™ Awards are the advertising industry's largest and toughest competition, representing the true spirit of creative excellence. All Gold ADDY™ awards won at the local level are automatically submitted to the next level, one of fourteen regional awards. Winners in the regional competitions will be submitted to the international level.

According to Lewis, "CCI has won Best of Show three times in the past, and has gotten as far as the international competition, but it's been a while since we've gone this far. We're hoping for good things at the next level, but right now we're just honored to be appreciated in our own back yard."

The gala event, themed 1950s chic, was held at DR-TV studios in Melbourne, and was hosted by News Channel 6 anchor, Lauren Rowe.

"I know how much work goes into putting this event together, and we want to thank everyone for their hard work, and, of course, we want to thank everyone who voted for our projects," concluded Lewis.
