CCI Successfully Performs Live Broadcasts for 3 Events in One Day
Mar 8, 2001. CAPE CANAVERAL, FL, March 8, 2001 --- Communications Concepts, Inc. (CCI) successfully performed live broadcast coverage of three events in three different cities in Florida on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. Each production team was covering a different type of event, including Sunshine State Conference Basketball Tournament in Lakeland, Florida; a Titan rocket launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida; and the Brevard County Commissioner's Workshop in Viera, Florida.
At 7:00 A.M., the first crew of fourteen people departed CCI's facilities in Cape Canaveral for the Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Florida. Their assignment was to provide live coverage for Sunshine Network, with six (6) cameras and a satellite truck, of the Men's and Women's Sunshine State Conference Basketball Tournament Title Games at 5:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. The broadcast of the Women's Title Game went live at 5:30 P.M. and ran until 7:30 P.M. With just a half-hour break, the team got back to work at 8:00 P.M. with live coverage of the Men's Title Game.
The second team of eight people arrived in Viera, Florida at 6:00 A.M. to set up the four cameras and CCI's mobile production truck for the live broadcast, of the Brevard County Commissioner's Workshop scheduled to begin at 9:00 A.M. These workshop meetings are broadcast live and recorded for tape delay broadcast on the Space Coast Government Television Station, Channel 1 or 99, depending on where you live in the county.
Communications Concepts' third crew of eight people met at CCI's studio at 7980 N. Atlantic Ave., Cape Canaveral, Florida and prepared to leave for Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and perform the live broadcast of the launch of the Titan Rocket carrying a military satellite. With the original launch window scheduled from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M., an announcement was made at 2 P.M. that the launch was being delayed until 4:24 P.M. At 4:24 P.M., Lockheed Martin and the 45th Space Wing successfully launched the Titan rocket on its mission in space. This broadcast project was performed utilizing one manned camera, the range cameras and a satellite truck.
"The trick is finding the right people for each crew position. When the previously scrubbed launch was rescheduled for the 27th, it was a real challenge finding more qualified people," commented Robin Champagne, production coordinator for Communications Concepts, Inc. Jim Lewis, general manager of Communications Concepts, Inc., said, "It took many hours of preparation and coordination, but I am very pleased with the results. Our clients were very happy with the services we provided for them. It was a very long day for some of our crews, but a very successful one for our clients. We are glad we have the talented people we do to provide the services."
